L-glutamine is an amino acid (a building block of protein) that your body can produce on its own. It also occurs naturally in foods like meat, eggs, and dairy. Of all amino acids, glutamine is the most abundant in your blood. You'll also find it in your muscles, gut, and even your immune cells. Since your body uses it in many places at once, there are times it may need more than it can make on its own.

Amino acids are the building blocks of protein. There are 20 in total. Some are considered “essential,” which means you need to get them from food. Others are “non-essential,” meaning your body can produce them on its own. L-glutamine is a non-essential amino acid, but in certain situations, your body may need more than it can make. In those cases, it becomes a “conditionally essential” amino acid: normally not essential, but needed under specific circumstances.

L-glutamine always has a slight taste. If a brand claims it’s completely neutral, that’s not true. We tested many options, and this one had the least aftertaste while meeting the highest quality standards.
